What You Will Achieve

As a member of our team, you'll use science and technology to design, characterize and develop the solid form of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and drug product formulations from discovery to commercial launch.You will be able to leverage your existing scientific knowledge, as well as develop in new areas, to evaluate the chemical & physical stability, bio-performance and manufacturability of the drug product across a diverse range of therapeutic areas.

You will be relied on as a technical contributor to assess the assigned tasks and make decisions that involve direct application of your knowledge.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Apply technical skills to complete assigned work within own work group/project team.

  • Conduct scientific studies to support formulations and provide solutions to technical problems.

  • Be a key member of your team by collaborating with other Formulation colleagues to define and implement dosage form strategies consistent with drug development timelines.

  • Work closely with formulators, analysts, and manufacturing colleagues on co-development to ensure successful commercial scale up and launch.

  • Support the authorship of development reports, and regulatory submission documents (e.g. Common Technical Dossier for drug product filings).

  • Support initiatives to develop best practices, test methods, and work processes to drive efficiencies.

  • Effectively communicate experimental observations and results.

  • Follow instructions to complete timesensitive assignments and contribute to the completion of project experiments and milestones.

  • Record experimental details and data into an electronic (digital) laboratory notebook.

  • Review the laboratory experiments and other written records of fellow scientists.

  • Ensure safe working practices are followed and maintained both intheir ownand others’ work.

  • Work with Pfizer scientists to develop and apply computational tools to support manufacture of dosage forms (tablets, capsules, multi-particulate beads, ointments etc.).

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree(BS) in a scientific or engineering related field.

  • Excellent organizational and communication (oral and written) skills.

  • Comfort in using computational models.

Nice-to-Have

  • Strong foundational understanding of basic principles of physical, organic and analytical chemistry.

  • Experience conducting and optimizing routine laboratory or pilot-scale experiments.

  • Familiarity using standard analytical chemistry laboratory techniques such as pipetting and volumetric glassware.

  • A basic understanding of HPLC / UPLC and basic solid state thermal characterization techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Includes activities in both laboratory and office settings; approximately 80%/20%. Candidate must be able to perform routine laboratory tests and procedures. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

The position may require travel to project meetings and support clinical, registration and validation campaigns at manufacturing sites globally. Up to 15% Travel.
