Job Summary

The Dean of Students (DOS) Office exists to provide advocacy and support for students who need resources, such as counseling services or support services, on or off campus. This office oversees the Student Code of Conduct, student disciplinary procedures, the student grievance procedures for students (civil and non-civil) and ACC's Care Team (behavior intervention team). The DOS office supports the classroom experience, acts as a partner in the management of student behavior both inside and outside the classroom, and serves as the Single Stop Office where we aim to connect students to local and government resources they may qualify for.

The Case Manager will play a critical role in the Dean of Students Office by providing struggling students with referrals, resources, and basic-needs support. The Case Manager will implement non-clinical interventions to provide care, support, and resources for students who have challenges with their health, housing, finances, academics, relationships, behavior, safety, and other aspects of their general welfare. This non-clinical position will intervene with students in crisis and employ de-escalation strategies, as needed.

Under the direction of the Dean of Students, the Case Manager will be responsible for meeting with students, faculty, and staff regarding concerns impacting student success as well as serving as a conduct officer. This position may be required to work out of any ACC campus, with a primary work location of the Littleton campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position, such as a bachelor's or a master's degree from a regionally accredited college in social work, public health, human relations, higher education, student affairs administration, or related degree.
  • Two years' graduate or one-year professional experience working in case management, student conduct, psychology, counseling, social work, human services, residence life, academic advising, and/or otherwise coordinating services for students/clients.
  • Experience documenting sensitive information and/or managing private records.
  • Experience working with people from underserved or underrepresented backgrounds in the higher education or human services environments.
  • Experience with and/or sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including but not limited to post-traditional students, students of color, Veterans, and first-generation college students.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, problem solving, reasoning, and conflict management skills.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning and work environment and ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operationalizing inclusion in the workspace with students/clients and/or colleagues.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently.
  • Work experience in higher education.
  • Experience with student information systems, such as Banner, and conduct databases, such as Maxient.
  • Experience making professional presentations to groups of up to 50 people.
  • Understanding of college disciplinary processes, Restorative Justice practices and principles, and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student policies and records (FERPA, Clery Act, and Title IX).
  • Ability to manage and coordinate several programs, activities, and services simultaneously.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Salary Range

Salary range for this position is $53,571 to $60,000, commensurate with education and experience. AP 3-45 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
