Anschutz Health and Wellness Center:
The Anschutz Health and Wellness Center (AHWC) resides within the School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The AWHC is an interdisciplinary center that has become the nation's go-to source of information and programs related to health and wellness. Top researchers work side-by-side with clinicians to develop and deliver wellness and weight loss programs and work with community interventionists to take these programs beyond the walls of the Center into communities. The mission of the Center is "to transform the lives of individuals and communities through science-based wellness strategies."
The vision of the Center is "a world empowered by wellness." All endeavors at the Center are focused on this vision. An integrated approach with a common philosophy is core to the development of the Center's programs. These programs strive to involve every area of the business, including wellness clinic services, the fitness center, and the metabolic and demonstration kitchens. Without this integration, it is not possible to achieve the vision that catalyzed the development of the AHWC. The Center serves as a "learning lab" for creating a model of standard care for wellness centers that can be replicated and exported.
This is the reception point for the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center during the operational hours currently Monday-Thursday 5am-10pm; Friday 5am-9pm and Saturday and Sunday 7am-5pm. This position's primary function is to ensure members check-in, support to group exercise check-in and retail sales as well as building wayfinding.
The Fitness Center Front Desk Shift Coordinator is responsible for providing efficient, effective, quality customer service through a variety of duties including, but not limited to, fitness center member and guest check-in, completion of guest registration prior to fitness center access, and assistance with Center wayfinding for other building visitors and guests. Complies with established Center policies and procedures and HIPAA privacy rules. Ensures precise and timely communication, including prospective guests, training clients, and massage client appointment status to appropriate department(s). Assists in other department tasks as assigned.
Examples of Work Performed:
In collaboration with the Front Desk Lead, the Shift Coordinator assists with the administrative responsibility for the Fitness Center Front Desk Assistants scheduling
Greets Center members and building guests and visitors and demonstrates superior customer service in doing so
Demonstrates knowledge of all building programs and entities to effectively answer and direct building visitors and guests to their appropriate location within the building
Verifies those entering the Fitness Center to ensure the only active members in good standing are allowed entry
Using the Center Point of Sale system, processes various transactions, including the collection of past due balances, sale of retail items, massage, and personal training packages
Responsible for balancing the POS register and reporting discrepancies to Fitness Center Account Assistant
Collects all appropriate guest information and sets up guest profiles in the Center member management system for prospective fitness members, new massage clients, and any non-members looking to enter the Center
Monitors massage provider schedule and assists massage team with daily scheduling of clients
Accepts package deliveries for all facility employees and facilitates pickup
Answers phone lines and transfers calls to the Center and building staff as appropriate
Assists members with registration for a variety of services and programs including, but not limited to, group exercise classes, and special programs
Assist and answer member questions or refer to the correct staff member
Participates in establishing and improving processes and policies related to reception operations
Participates in search committees for recruiting, coordinating interviews and site visits
Supports and aids Fitness Center Front Desk Lead and General Manager in tasks, projects, and events on an as-needed basis
Mandatory one weekend a month shift
Mentor students working the reception desk

- Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
Substitution: Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
Conditions of Employment:
CPR/AED/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire date
Willing and able to lift 25lbs
Willing and able to Push/ Pull up to 25lbs
Willing and able to stand for long periods
Availability to work early morning, late night, and weekend shifts
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
Previous customer service experience in a Fitness Center
Experience with CSI Spectrum Point of Sale software
Customer service focused and outstanding customer service skills
Consistent, pleasant nature
Ability to handle cash, make change and balance a cash drawer
Ability to learn new software and any updates
Ability to follow credit card acceptance policy as defined by the Center
Ability to follow set procedures for entering transactions into the Center Point of Sale system
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
Attention to detail
Demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity and inclusion
Salary and Benefits:
The hourly pay rate ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $17+ per hour depending on experience
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
