This position is responsible for identifying and maintaining clear HR practices which comply with employment laws and regulations, as well the agency’s Policies & Procedures, in a sensible and practical manner while supporting the mission and values of our client. This position is also responsible for day-to-day operations and administration of the organization’s HR services, to include processing bi-weekly payroll, providing HR-oriented trainings, conflict resolution, writing job descriptions, evaluation, and other related duties. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the company's employee recruitment efforts through the development of position descriptions and posting of positions and the screening of candidates throughout the hiring process
• Process background checks for all employees, interns, and agency volunteers to include both a standard CBI check, as well as a TRAILS check
• Partner with managers to support the onboarding of new hires while accurately collecting and storing onboarding documentation and information; provide new hires with company technology and other supports during the work-from-home period
• Coordinate staff trainings to meet professional and organizational needs and goals of the company
• Identify and implement best practices in employee development, engagement and retention
• Process employee exits, to include exit interviews, the return and cataloguing of company property, and other standard exit procedures
• Process and participate in unemployment claims; ensure that required quarterly reports are filed in a timely manner with the CDLE
• Ensure compliance with new, COVID-19 employment laws and ensure that all necessary, publicly-posted documentation and posters related to employment are up-to-date

Lead HR Practices in Compliance & Staff Management

• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
• Maintain employee records and benefits by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records
• Support managers on subjects such as performance issues and engagement. Preparing documentation and making recommendations to resolve employee and client related issues, problems, and performance management concerns
• Process all employee and relief staff timesheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all company policies and procedures and grant-funding requirements
• Work with the Manager of Finance to ensure correct grant allocations on all employee timesheets
• Act as a liaison to employees on a variety of situations and HR policies and procedures
