Summary -- Travel RN – PACU– Highlands Ranch Hospital, HighlandsRanch, CO

Preop/PACU 30 bay Preop/PACU. Department Preops and Recovers patients from 8 OR's, 2 Endoscopy Suites, Cath Lab, IR, Diagnostics Radiology

Averaging 35-45 cases a day.

Service Lines: Ortho, total joints, ENT, Head and Neck, Urology, GYN. We do not perform open heart surgeries, burn, or transplant surgeries and only care for patients 14 years old and greater than 40kg.

Main OR PACU experience required. We do not recover ICU patients; they go straight from the OR to the ICU. 70% of current case volume is outpatient and 30% is inpatient.

C N A's are also in the department to assist with patient care.

Three 12 hour shifts a week with extra shifts and overtime available.

Shifts M – F Start times vary but are usually 9am-930pm.

Call Requirements: 4 weeknights and 48 hours of weekend call coverage per 6 week schedule period. Weekends are split into 4 call shifts (Sat 6a-6p, 6p-6a Sun 6a-6p, 6p-6a)

Holiday call coverage is shared among staff.

PACU phase 1 and 2,prefer pre-op also.

2 years RN experience preferred

Travel RN contract andTeaching hospital experience strongly preferred

BLS, ACLS, PALS

CPAN or CCRNpreferred. Not required

Job Duties/Skills andAbilities

• Plans,implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment tooptimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

• Monitors, records, andcommunicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed acrossdisciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge,referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

• Evaluates learning needs ofpatient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age,culture, condition, and circumstances.

• Effectively delegates patientcare to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

Skills and Abilities:

Within scope of job,requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to workwith minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, andtake appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protectiveequipment as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program if less than three (3) years' experience.
  • 6 months nursing experience (in an acute setting)
  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and any relevant unit specific certification requirement.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR, ACLS, and PALS and card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

• Bachelor'sDegree in Nursing

• Experiencein a teaching/academic hospital

• Twoyears Travel RN experience
