2+ years of recent registered nurse experience strongly preferred. RN backgrounds in the following areas strongly preferred: Critical Care (ICU, Stepdown, Cardiac Cath Lab, Heart Transplant) LVAD, MCS, RN Coordinator, Advanced Heart Failure, "CVICU", and cardiac surgery.
Functions as a program, population-based expert clinician, responsible for independent and interdependent nursing practice in the care of patients with or receiving Mechanical Circulatory Support. Assists educators in providing competencies for staff and community education. Coordinates/optimizes health care team interventions across the continuum including inpatient and outpatient settings and is actively involved in meeting discharge goals and long-term care outcomes. The MCS Coordinator serves in a rotating on call capacity for the team, in order to provide 24 hour coverage for both inpatients (staff) and outpatients. Supports patients undergoing Mechanical Circulatory Support. Provides therapy-specific education for patients, caregivers, staff, providers, and community partners. Optimizes health care team interventions; meets discharge goals and long-term care outcomes. Serves in an on call capacity.
Work Schedule: Full Time Days
Location: Anschutz campus
Serves as the primary nursing care coordinator prior to, during and after the implantation of a Mechanical Circulatory Device. Serves as a clinical leader for associated teams. Provides care coordination to patients, including 24/7 on-call availability.
Reviews Mechanical Circulatory Support policies, procedures, and manuals. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures. Maintains Mechanical Circulatory Support program registry and statistics.
Assists with outcomes tracking and national comparison reports. Collaborates on clinical trials and research projects.
Educates and assesses staff in the use of Mechanical Circulatory Support. Leads train-the-trainer initiatives and super-user formats to ensure provider competency. Coordinates community resources and works with patients and caregivers to ensure emergency backup support systems.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Minimum Experience: 1 year of related clinical experience. Critical care experience. Preferred: MSN or related graduate education preferred. Clinical care of Mechanical Circulatory Support Device patients. Mechanical Circulatory Support Device Coordinator experience.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

The pay range for this position is: $32.79- $50.82 / hour. An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
