Description
We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist to support a new project in support of our High Speed Data team. The skill set would be pretty standard data science skills (R, python, SQL, etc.).
That being said, given it's a new project, we likely wouldn't want to bring on anyone too junior either.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with peers and stakeholders in and outside of the engineering team to understand all the sources of data that can be utilized and analyzed
- Drives data collection and enablement for improvements in analytical capabilities and reporting in conjunction with engineers, developers and analysts
- Create and curate machine learning and data modeling practices for the engineering team
- Continuously monitor and curate data visualization tools and ensure they support presenting data to leaders and stakeholders in an understandable way
- Drive and curate tools and systems that validate model performance and data accuracy
- Participate in several scrum teams focused on products, networks, and infrastructure to get a better understanding of the needs and opportunities of our engineering teams and ultimately our business
- Collaborate with peers and stakeholders in and outside of the engineering team to understand all the sources of data that can be utilized and analyzed
- Drives data collection and enablement for improvements in analytical capabilities and reporting in conjunction with engineers, developers and analysts within our organization
- Utilize and monitor data sets that drive automated network and system repair to get to a state of self-healing networks and services.
- Ensures that all system data and telemetry is appropriately consumed and utilized in analytical activities
- Develops and maintains reports and visualizations for peers, leaders, and stakeholders and makes recommendations on potential actions from the data
- Builds and creates self-service reporting and visualization capabilities to ensure that critical business functions can be continuously monitored.

More of a Sr. Data Scientist, rather than Principal
- Teleocommunications experience preferred but not required
- 7+ years of experience in data analytics, reporting, machine learning or database administration
- Expertise with Excel, SQL, noSQL, R, SAS, Python, Javascript, or C variants of programming languages.
- Expertise with machine learning, predictive modeling and pattern recognition
- Expertise in data mining and statistical analysis
- Expertise with visualization tools such as tableau
- Familiarity with software repositories and continuous integration and deployment processes (CICD, GIT, Cron, Jenkins)
- Familiarity with splunk, Elasticsearch/Kibana, Grafana, SNMP, and syslog is preferred.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Solar Winds or Netcool is preferred.
- Strong in statistical analysis
- Experienced in both relational and noSQL type databases along with flat datasets, syslog and SNMP data.
Education:
- BS in computer science, mathematics, or statistics or equivalent combination of education and experience
