Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience

  • Execute the entire Software Design Lifecycle

  • Experience with embedded C/C++

  • Understand memory, timing and throughput constraints in an embedded system and ensure robust and sound designs that address these issues

  • Experience using SysML/UML to create Software Designs

  • Experience Testing and debugging on both Software in the Loop (SITL) and Hardware in the Loop (HITL, on target platform) environments

  • Experience with Configuration Management platforms (GIT, SVN)

  • Experience developing on a Real Time Operating System (VxWorks preferably)

  • Understanding or ARINC 653

  • Understanding of MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, SPI and techniques for efficient memory storage and retrieval.

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Automated Test

  • Experience performing MCDC Coverage Testing

  • Experience and knowledge of Software Design Patterns

  • Knowledge of Python

  • Ability to present complex and safety critical SW designs to peers and customers

  • Experience Utilizing and setting up Static Analysis Tools

  • Experience standing up Embedded SW Development Environments

  • Experience with creating a Board Support Package

  • Ability to recognize inefficiencies in software development or processes and work with FSW Lead to improve

  • Mentoring and leading younger engineers through technical challenges

  • Previous experience with large Space Design Programs or Space Flight Operations

  • Deep Knowledge of pitfalls and that cause performance issues in embedded systems

Preferred:

  • Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build

  • Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral

  • Proficient with data structures

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required. Learn more about the background check process for Security Clearance

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $117,040.88 - $160,931.20

Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
