The SSG Specialty Engineering organization is seeking an individual with direct experience in EEE Parts Engineering, or Component Engineering, to provide technical assessment of electrical parts for several SNC programs. The individual hired for this position will also support definition and implementation of common Parts Engineering processes and tools for use across the SSG business unit. As a Parts Engineer you will work with various Design Teams on several different programs to assess hardware design and parts selection for compliance to requirements. Assessment will also consider additional factors such as hardware application within the system, mission environments and life cycle and cost. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a Parts Engineering approach from a hardware systems perspective to support the Design Team in achieving effective solutions, not just focus on meeting the contractual requirements as written. During part procurement, hardware manufacturing and test phases of the programs the Parts Engineer will assist with parts failure analyses as well as verification and compliance issues where needed.

The SSG Specialty Engineering organization is a small multidiscipline team which provides value-added engineering support services to a variety of programs at SSG. Our organization is still relatively new to the business unit and their role is quickly expanding across the SSG business unit. As such, the individual hired for this position will also have the opportunity to utilize their prior experiences and knowledge to support further definition and implementation of common Parts Engineering processes and tools across the SNC Space Systems Group business area.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with program Design, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering personnel to implement the Parts Engineering process

  • Evaluate compliance of Flight hardware against established program EEE Parts requirements

  • Perform other EEE Parts activities such as drawing generation, data package review, failure analysis review, etc.

  • Establish common data and project management tools using Windchill/PDM, Microsoft Access, JIRA, Confluence, etc. to support Specialty Engineering functions

  • Provide interpretation of requirements to Design Teams and evaluate product designs to ensure compliance and successful mission performance

  • Lead or support failure analyses activities associated with electrical part failures


  • Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or other related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

  • Must have the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts in work products which they develop as well be able to effectively communicate these concepts in person-to-person situations and presentations to large audiences

  • Prior experience leading Parts Engineering technical efforts on a major program or contract

  • Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

  • Familiarity with Windchill/PDM and MRP/ERP systems

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required. Learn more about the background check process for Security Clearances


  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

  • Experience working with databases such as Microsoft Access.

  • Experience with development of macros, scripts or programs using Visual Basic, C++, Python or other programming languages to support data management efforts. 


This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.  The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
