About the Role:

The Sales Engineer role works in partnership with field sales engineers, sales, customer success, and service delivery to finalize, verify, and enrich customer contracted solutions. Solutions include SDWAN, MNS, DyIP, SASE, EIA, Cloud Connect, and other ancillary data and voice products and services. The SE will contribute to driving and retaining revenue by ensuring innovative high value products and solutions are designed correctly, meet the customers stated outcomes, and can be provisioned according to product guidelines. The role requires the ability to communicate detailed technical, architectural, engineering and product deliverables to all levels inside a customer organization. The SEs blend of technical and professional skills, fosters a collaborative environment with internal and external customer teams, providing a unique and positive customer experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Technical enrichment and finalization of contracted engineered solution design.
  • Engages customers in a consultative manner in order to understand the technical and business challenges, desired future state, and technical requirements for deployment of products and services.
  • Verify and supports solutions to customers utilizing the entire suite of Windstream products in order to drive, maintain and increase profitable revenue.
  • Supports field SEs, Sales and Account Development teams, and other internal stakeholders with technical order enrichment, design validation, customer requirement validation, for Windstream solutions.
  • Clearly articulates value statements and network designs to internal and external customers.
  • Assists in preparing, completing and presenting all technical designs and paperwork to the TDE and Service Delivery teams for hand off during the Project Management and Implementation phase of the lifecycle.
  • Creates and delivers focused continual process improvement feedback to field SEs, product management, and other stakeholders based on reoccurring issues that arise.
  • Supports design gaps discovered during enrichment and proposes solutions when able. Communicates with fields SEs and sales when major design modifications are needed.
  • Represents Windstream on customer appointments as a subject matter technology expert specializing in network services including TDM, Ucaas, SDWAN solutions, LAN/WAN technologies, LAN/WAN applications, SIP, customized fiber, data center and associated hardware. 
  • Develops collaborative relationships via daily interaction with all functional teams at all levels. 
  • Stays current with technology as it pertains to the industry.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Do You Have?

  • Intermediate written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to build relationships over the phone and in person. Must have a proactive communication style ensuring timely status updates to field SEs, TDE, service delivery, account team and customer. Able to develop relationships and communicate with both internal and external customers.
  • Strong understanding of voice/data/internet applications, communications technology and network design. IP Routing and Switching, IP V4/V6, MPLS, VPN, SIP and TDM Voice, Data Center, Cloud Solutions, Virtualization, Managed Services, UCaaS, Solid understanding of technical terminology related to company products & services. Requires general knowledge of voice and data communications equipment.
  • Understanding of solution selling process and implementation process. 
  • Strong analytical skills. Must be able to work through complex issues with a methodical approach. Solid ability to graphically depict solutions in a compelling manner. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must be detail oriented. 
  • Strong MS Office Suite knowledge and usage. Ability to learn internal company systems and applications.
  • Intermediate understanding of company financial measures. Must have an intermediate understanding of telecommunications industry and sales cycles.
  • Two-year College degree in IT, Engineering or a related field and 3 years professional level experience; or 5 years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required

Even Better:  

  • 4 College degree in IT, Engineering or a related field and 6 years professional level experience; or 10 years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required
  • 2 years’ direct experience provisioning IT products and services in a service delivery environment
  • 2 years’ experience as a customer facing sales engineer designing and selling IT products and services.

CCENT or greater, or equivalent, IT engineering certification

Qualifications

  • 4 College degree in IT, Engineering or a related field and 6 years professional level experience; or 10 years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required
  • 2 years’ direct experience provisioning IT products and services in a service delivery environment
  • 2 years’ experience as a customer facing sales engineer designing and selling IT products and services.
  • CCENT or greater, or equivalent, IT engineering certification.
