If you are a Supply Quality Engineer professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Boulder, Colorado location, you will ensure the quality of electronic assemblies and peripherals meet specifications and address any non-conforming material issues with suppliers, participate in New Product Development (NPD) teams to ensure that suppliers provide consistent and high-quality components, develop qualification plans using PPAP methodology for all new parts whether required for NPD or for supply chain projects for risk mitigation or cost reduction efforts, work across a highly matrixed organization to influence global sites and suppliers.
AS A SUPPLY QUALITY ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
- Manage quality of supplied parts:
- Balance the needs of operations support, new product development support and supply chain projects. Set priorities based on business need
- Lead supplier QMS and process audits for assigned commodities
- Technical liaison between suppliers, purchasing, engineering, and operations
- Communicate supplier performance expectations to suppliers
- Understand and be able to communicate supplier’s capabilities to internal stakeholders
- Develop quality plans, inspection plans, and material incoming verification methods
- Provide input to commodity managers for supplier business reviews
- Establish and maintain successful relationships with suppliers, commodity team, operations, and design engineers
- Keep the manager and cross-functional team informed of important matters, including quality and project schedules
- Ensure clear and complete supplier requirements documentation and conformance to applicable agency requirements
- Lead drawing reviews for purchase parts in order to reduce risk and avoid misunderstanding
- Follow PPAP Process to deliver guaranteed quality and short lead times for source changes, product transfers and new product implementations:
- Lead supplier quality system and process audits
- Ensure appropriate involvement by design control and evaluating facility personnel
- Verify deliverables are completed and archived in global repository prior to project closure
- Establish, monitor, and take appropriate action in response to key performance measures
- Provide regular report outs to management and functional team, including current status and action plans for improvement
- Represent Global Supply Chain on cross-functional, global project teams:
- Attend and participate actively in meetings
- Ensure alignment of global supply chain processes and objectives
- Lead global projects from conceptualization to implementation
- Ability to drive and deliver innovative, effective and timely solutions

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- BS in Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Able to work well in a team environment and partner with colleagues around the globe
- Able to provide summary of problems using the appropriate level of detail for senior management
- Available for domestic/international travel as required
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- BS in Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred, MS in Engineering
- At least five years in one or more of the following: supply quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, design engineering
- Extensive knowledge of multiple electronic manufacturing processes, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), quality management systems, process auditing, Lean, Six Sigma and problem-solving tools.
- Experience in Electronic Manufacturing Services Provider processes for PCA and box build assemblies.
- Able to communicate IPC requirements and arbitrate IPC non-compliance.
- Design for Manufacturability/Design for Test experience
- Knowledge of code and approvals requirements for electromechanical devices (IEEE, IECEx, ATEX, PED and UL/CSA)
- History leading and completing projects using project management techniques and tools
- Certifications (Lean, Six Sigma, Certified Auditor)
