This opportunity reports to the Systems Engineering Section inside of the Advanced Development Programs business unit. As part of a growing, hardworking, and curious team of engineers you’ll be deployed to programs that shape the future of Blue Origin.

As part of a team of specialists, technicians, engineers, and program managers, you are responsible for establishing and implementing Engineering Data Management and Analysis (EDMA) for various spaceflight systems. This role shares in the team’s impact on all aspects of developing and delivering high quality products and systems. You will be leading the development, integration, and operation of the systems our team will use to store and control Engineering data for various development programs. This role is expected to utilize data driven models to continuously improve systems to meet program demands. You will be expected to lead a team of internal and external resources and manage tasking accordingly to deliver results to the programs. You will need to use strong interpersonal skills as the primary focal for all things EDMA, interacting with all end users, all system owners across Blue Origin and external resources in order to establish first in class systems for our programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of leads implementing Configuration Management, Information Management, System Modeling, and Data Analytics

  • Set overall architecture of the Engineering Data Management systems, and establish the objectives for each of the teams implementing each system

  • Establish and approve processes and policies for each of the individual teams, including approving the Configuration Management policy

  • Establish product and processes metrics that effectively measure and improve performance of documentation and configuration management processes as required

  • Assess gaps in existing process, tools, infrastructure, and strategy. Prioritize these and work with stakeholders to establish closure plans or otherwise bring solutions.

  • Identify and work with broader group of Blue Origin stakeholders for necessary infrastructure and policy development

  • Communicate with our internal customers and provide rapid and effective solutions, leveraging the infrastructure being developed by the team

  • Efficiently develop and document business processes and software requirements as needed

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of direct product configuration management experience (Product structure, parts, drawings and requirements management experience highly desired).

  • 5+ years of project leadership experience at a manager level, with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage people and teams.

  • 3+ years of experience working in a highly regulated environment (security systems, medical device, aerospace, etc.)

  • Deep experience with world-class toolsets for configuration management in complex products

  • Self-starter with exceptional organizational and analytical skills, ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight

  • Proven ability to develop and implement short-term and long-term strategies to realize results

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with staff at all levels of the organization and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, customers and suppliers

  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills

  • Continuous improvement mindset

  • Proficient with product lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data management tools

  • AA/AS or BA/BS in a related technical or liberal arts discipline

  • Familiarity with export control (EAR/ITAR) regulations

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Experience in the development of system engineering products such as requirements, interface control documents, and verification reports

  • Experience with system modeling techniques including MBSE, digital twin, and/or SysML

  • CMII, NDIA CDM certification

  • Experience in aerospace or aviation

  • Experience with Windchill, Creo, and DOORS Next Generation (DNG) toolsets.

  • Experience with Confluence & JIRA

  • Database skills with SQL, queries, etc

  • Experience with C# or Python

  • Experience with Linux, Docker, Jenkins, REST APIs, databases

  • Experience with Microservices

  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services

  • Experience with Software Development

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Estimated salary wage (Colorado only): 142K-240K
