Reporting to the SVP, Technology Planning and Application, the Vice President of Technology Policy focuses on a changing set of technology-related public policy issues currently facing Company, including unauthorized access to Company services and content, 5G wireless deployment, rural broadband construction, Next Generation TV, cybercrime and energy efficiency. The position acts as a bridge between Company’s Product & Technology Group and Government Affairs office in Washington.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Remain current on the technology policy issues facing the cable and telecom industries to advise our policy staff on positions Charter should take in conjunction with other telecommunication industry leaders.
Responsible for understanding regulatory and legislative proposals within the telecom industry, coming primarily from the FCC, DOE, and FTC and the Energy and Commerce committees, respectively.
Research and present the technical methods, business models and ecosystem organizations used by broadband and video pirates to mitigate piracy. This includes collecting and preserving detailed documentation of specified pirate activities to be used as input into mitigation actions.
Work with Engineering and Government Affairs teams to ensure that Charter’s network evolution plans will be compatible with laws and regulations around 5G wireless development and rural broadband deployment.
Prepare financial analysis for topics being debated at the FCC and Congress, such as rural broadband construction costs, piracy revenue losses and mitigation costs, 5G deployment rationales, and CPE energy savings compliance costs and benefits.
Responsible for monitoring deliverables and updating status for key programs, projects and strategic initiatives for entire team, ensuring consistency and completing on time.

In-depth knowledge of internet architecture and technologies.
