Our client, a leading Real Estate company is looking for a 10 plus years Real Estate Transactional Attorney with 5 plus years of Legal Department management and supervisory experience. Our client is a highly entrepreneurial real estate investment company pairing active capital with an emphasis on street level solutions. The firm focusses on acquisitions, development and management for highly complex and structured real estate opportunities and has 30 years of operational and real estate expertise. Under the management and direction of the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel will be responsible for advising on general real estate and finance matters, entity formation and tax matters and reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts and agreements. The work will be transactional and will involve preparation, review and negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, operating agreements, 1031 exchanges, as well as closing documents about all acquisitions and dispositions. The Associate General Counsel will be responsible for real estate finance transactions, including loan document review and negotiation, as well as loan closings. Familiarity with commercial leases, ground leases and common community formation documents a plus. The Associate General Counsel will manage outside counsel related to real estate transactions, balancing cost and effectiveness in the delivery of legal services and will collaborate with the General Counsel and the legal & business teams with all aspects of acquisitions, dispositions and financing for the company. We are looking for an experienced Real Estate Attorney with strong academic credentials with a J.D. from an accredited law school; attorney's license must be current, active and in good standing. The Associate General Counsel should have 10 plus years of practice in a law firm or in-house with a practice concentration in real estate, finance, entity formation and other commercial areas and 5 plus years of supervisory/management experience. The Associate General Counsel should have a demonstrated strategic approach to legal problem solving; detail-oriented, organized, strong negotiation, efficient, effective leadership, supervisory, and resourceful with strong follow-through skills.
