Role: Healthcare Principal

Compensation: $150k to $175k + Variable Bonus

Our Business Advisory team is looking for a seasoned management consultant who is passionate about building innovative solutions to transform the healthcare industry for the better. Ideally you will have a strong healthcare background coupled with extensive management consulting experience and showcase yourself as a thought leader with our c-level healthcare partners. A healthcare background more on the business (Healthcare Strategy, Operations) and provider side is preferred, but broad exposure to other healthcare areas are encouraged as well (e.g., payor, life sciences, ambulatory, technology, pharmaceuticals). Must be able to operate in flexible engagement teams, work directly with our senior leadership team, be creative when it comes to developing solutions, and partner closely with other Slalom practices and capabilities in: Strategy, Technology Enablement, Change Management, Experience Design, Process and Business Analysis, Data & Analytics, Program and Project Management.

§ Execute effectively by being responsible for solutions and/or overall project outcomes, as well as, proactively removing obstacles (self & others).

§ Develop high-impact solutions by applying best practices, enlisting expertise, and guiding work (self & others) for prioritization, quality, and accuracy.

§ Create authentic, trusting relationships with clients, and within Slalom, that demonstrate an understanding of informal organizational structures, people, cultures, and constraints. Specifically with clients, the ability to display executive presence and navigate discrepancies in customer and Slalom needs.

Grow Expertise

§ Deepen and broaden role and expertise within Slalom, and the ability to mentor others in areas of expertise.

§ Develop a mastery in Pursuit & Engagement roles, while contributing to Slalom enhancing its capabilities within the practice.

Grow Slalom

§ Contributes to building the Slalom community via modeling Slalom brand stewardship, encouraging colleagues to engage in internal initiatives, and managing a professional network in area of expertise.

§ Manages business operations through maximizing staffability (self & others) and ensuring responsible projects financial & operational health.

§ Drives sales by proactively identifying opportunities for Slalom to deliver and by leading or solutioning for pursuits.

§ Quantitative expectations for this role would be 80%+ utilization and $1M revenue (primarily sold or managed).


§ Develops skills to identify and mitigate personal biases and tailor style to collaborate with others, while also communicating openly and authentically on shares values, assumptions, and imperfections.

§ Leads others by celebrating uniqueness, empowers others to bring their full selves to work, and by modeling the habit of regularly requesting and providing feedback to others.

§ Develops teams by anticipates risks, proactively addressing obstacles, creating space for productive conflict, establishing norms to encourage open-mindedness and non-judgement for team mistakes, and co-creating team vision/strategy/outcomes as needed.

Consulting and Soft Skills

All consultants should be able to conduct themselves professionally with clients and work well in teams. During our interviews, we will ask questions that will help us to gauge how well you communicate, build trust and credibility, take care of conflict, and influence a course of action.
