Summary The Fisher House Program is a Veteran Centric way for the VA to provide lodging and support to family members of VA patients, thereby increasing the patient's support system and promoting wellness. The Fisher House program is like the Department of Defense's program called the Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC) Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to the following: The incumbent prepares and drafts Fisher House correspondence relating to the maintenance and operations manuals, publications, articles, webpage and other social media updates, etc., for Fisher House Manager's consideration. The incumbent will assist the Fisher House Manager in recording and disseminating information to guests and interested parties and organizations. The incumbent aids guests and patients by providing information on a wide range of support organizations in the local area to include alternative temporary lodging options (VA and non-VA) and local community support and recreational resources. Knowledge of area ordinances, laws, and requirements governing the occupancy, construction, use, and operation of assigned housing facilities or projects. Knowledge and skill in the application of the full range of housing management principles and methodology to a variety of difficult and complex assignments. The incumbent must possess knowledge of General Post Fund (GPF), Fund Control Point (FCP) and purchase card procedures and participate in the development, execution and review and analysis of the Fisher House budget. Incumbent must have knowledge in conducting inspections and audits to identify deficiencies; determining the impact of repairs, improvements, or other corrective measures; and coordinating the scheduling or implementing the work with other organizational activities. The incumbent serves as a resource for staff, trainees, students and volunteers regarding the preparation of correspondence and reports. The incumbent coordinates actions as necessary with the Public Affairs Officer. Participates in designing and marketing activities and products that educate the public about the Fisher House mission and its interrelationship with the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center. He/she may assist with providing timely and accurate statistical information analysis and management report to the National VA Fisher House and Family Hospitality Program Manager in VHA Care Management & Social Work Services. The incumbent will participate in activities that ensure the facility follows health, safety, privacy and sanitation rules and regulations Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two full year of graduate education in course of study in an accredited college or LL.B or J.D if related university that included a major field of study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the second year is equivalent to one year of specialized experience. Specialized Experience GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
