Law Firm Human Resource Manager

Our client is a growing boutique law firm with a national practice focused on infrastructure, transportation, energy, environmental, real estate, and tribal matters. The Firm has particularly extensive expertise advising public agency clients, including on some of the nation’s most complex and high-profile projects. They are a diverse, collegial and collaborative firm devoted to providing the highest quality legal services to their clients while also ensuring that attorneys and staff enjoy quality of life both within and outside of the office. Our client currently maintains offices in Denver, New York, Washington, DC, San Francisco, and Boston. The Firm seeks a Human Resources Manager experienced in providing HR support and office management for multiple locations across the country. The position will be located in the downtown Denver office and will be the primary backup to the COO. The HR Manager will work directly with the COO to support the firm as it continues to grow its national presence. Some travel may be required. The HR Manager will bring consistency to development and management of personnel, policies, processes, benefits, payroll, recruiting and general office management. The HR Manager will have an SPHR or equivalent experience and possess strong knowledge of national employment law, HR policy, and best practices including payroll, benefits, recruitment, retention and compliance. Responsibilities Include: Direct management of some legal support staff, workforce planning, employee onboarding and offboarding, personnel records management, policies and compliance, updating of firm administrative handbook, benefits administration, involvement in Firm diversity efforts, performance evaluations, payroll, providing accounting assistance and primary backup to COO, payroll tax compliance and reporting, business filings and registrations. The ideal HR Manager with have knowledge of human resource administration at a national level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business or equivalent experience. SPHR Certification strongly preferred. 5 plus years of professional services, ideally law firm HR management experience. The HR Manager will have the ability to identify and resolve complex and sensitive HR issues while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, ability to work independently and as part of a team while exercising time management and problem-solving skills. The HR Manager will have Strong Office Suite skills, accounting, document management, payroll/HR Systems experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills along with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management are required for this position. Medical, dental, vision, Flexible spending account, Health savings account, STD, LTD, group term life insurance, 401(k), paid time off, sick time, parental leave, holiday pay.
