Monarch Investment and Management Group, “Monarch” has been actively involved in Multifamily Housing investment since 1992. We currently own and manage over 70,000 apartment homes in 20 states, making us the 10th largest multifamily housing owner in the country.

We are is seeking an experienced Real Estate and Transactions Paralegal to join our in-house transactions team in Franktown, Colorado. Up to 40% work from home!

Under the direction and supervision of Monarch’s in-house attorneys, this position will assist attorneys in various aspects of commercial real estate transactions including documentation, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities for acquisitions, dispositions, and financings; legal entity formation, registration, and maintenance; and other transactional and organizational matters. The paralegal will consult with a supervising attorney whenever legal judgment, opinion, or advice is needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Order and review title commitments and documents referenced therein and surveys, and working directly with title companies and surveyors to address comments
  • Calendar critical dates and deadlines and prepare and administer closing checklists
  • Coordinate and assist with closings, including preparation of conveyance documents, settlement statements, transfer tax forms, and escrow release documentation
  • Attend to post-closing requirements, including preparation of closing binders, preparation and monitoring of post-closing deliveries and other requirements
  • Prepare initial draft documents for attorney review
  • Coordinate the distribution, tracking, and compilation of investor consents
  • Form, organize, and maintain limited liability companies
  • Order UCC lien, bankruptcy, and litigation searches and prepare summaries of search results
  • Prepare closing instructions to escrow agents
  • Coordinate execution and delivery of documents
  • Research state and local transfer tax and recording and document execution obligations and requirements
  • Prepare organization charts
  • Handle routine correspondence
  • Assist with other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible, multitask, and prioritize
  • Ability to problem solve, think independently, and tackle projects
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with fellow team members, investors, transaction partners, and adverse parties
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability and aptitude to work with numbers
  • Strong computer and word processing skills, including the Microsoft Office suite of products and Adobe
  • Ability to conduct online research of public resources for tax, recording, and property information
  • Ability to work unsupervised, in a relaxed and friendly environment, but still meet multiple demands and deliver excellent work product

Education and Experience:

  • At least four years of previous experience in commercial real estate transactions/closings, including experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and financings
  • Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate preferred but not required
