**Job Descriptions:**

ETS is seeking several passionate, highly qualified scientists to join our Research Centers and contribute to foundational and applied research on socioculturally responsive learning and assessment. These researchers will work closely with a research team charged with advancing the practice and science of assessment and learning through innovations in design, implementation, measurement modeling, and new fairness and equity concepts. These Research Scientists are expected to conceptualize, propose, direct, and collaborate on projects and, when appropriate, seek external funding for research. The Research Scientists will be part of a team contributing to creation of new knowledge and capabilities in socioculturally responsive assessment and learning and applying that new knowledge and capabilities to improve ETS products and services.

**Responsibilities:**

+ Contribute to an innovative research agenda that aims to improve fairness, equity, validity, and efficacy in assessment and learning

+ Collaborate with teams of external and internal ETS researchers and education partners on activities that advance ETS's research and assessment programs and services

+ Manage research projects, involving staff assignment and scheduling, budgeting, acquisition and utilization of equipment and interaction with other areas of R become involved in one or more activities sponsored by relevant professional organizations

Required Experience:

**Education, Certifications, or Special Licenses** :

The following are required:

+ A doctoral degree in educational research, cognitive and learning sciences, measurement, psychometrics, data science, educational anthropology, educational ethnography, or a closely related field

+ A focus on fairness and equity in training and research experience

+ Strong commitment to making a difference in learning and assessment of individuals from diverse social and cultural contexts

+ In addition to deep understanding of concepts related to fairness, equity, and sociocultural responsiveness in assessment or learning, expertise in one or more of the following areas:

+ Assessment task design in reading, math, science

+ Deep understanding of measurement modelling, measurement invariance, conditional inference

+ Sociocultural context of learning

**Relevant Years of Experience:**

Associate Research Scientist:

+ One year of independent substantive research and/or development experience in an area of interest to ETS is required. Experience may be gained through doctoral studies.

Research Scientist

+ Three years of progressively independent research and/or development experience is required.

Senior Research Scientist

+ Eight years of independent research experience providing evidence of continuing and substantial contributions to a field of study are necessary.

Principal Research Scientist

+ Twelve years of progressively responsible research and/or development experience, including at least three years at the senior level, and evidence of research and/or development leadership are necessary. It is also necessary to have a national reputation and stature as a leader in the field, as evidenced by at least three letters of recommendation from outside experts.

**Other Requirements:**

+ Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in cross-disciplinary research teams

+ Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with stakeholder groups (e.g., K-12 or college students, educators, district leaders, higher education administrators)

+ Strong oral and written communication skills?

+ Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
