Description

The Vice President of Finance is a critical leadership role which will oversee all of Naked Wines’ finance for the United States market – our biggest and highest growth geography. Reporting to the global CFO, Shawn Tabak, this person will be responsible for forecasting and planning, FP&A, and strategic finance.

The VP of Finance reports to the global CFO and has significant interaction with the Executive team (especially the US President) and Board of Directors. They must demonstrate a clear ability to communicate and work effectively in a team environment.
*This position can report to the Denver or Napa office.*

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide insightful and trusted counsel to the CEO, senior management team and the Board on both financial and broad-based business issues.
  • Serve as key business partner and contributor to growth strategies, tactics, and mid- and long-range planning.
  • Develop, implement and scale best in class financial controls, performance metrics, and operating disciplines to foster growth.
  • Develop and direct management financial reporting systems, ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the FP&A activities through the development and management of all internal and external financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and mid and long-range plans.
  • Identify and develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that measure the competitive, financial, and operational effectiveness of the strategy.
  • Provide hands-on, metrics-driven financial leadership to help accelerate growth and provide the executive team with operational insight to better manage the business.
  • Develop and implement frameworks for effective investment decision making, such as ROI, EVA, and Economic Profit analytical tools to ensure decisions are made in alignment with creating shareholder value.
  • Analyze business risks and opportunities and make recommendations as they affect the financial results of the business.
  • Drive the preparation and review of annual budgets and the implementation of rolling 8-quarter forecasting for the purposes of providing visibility into the business and establishing financial guidance targets.
  • Work with the product and revenue teams to optimize product structures and corresponding pricing
  • Recruit, motivate, and mentor a finance team that will scale with the organization, and ensure that the function is proactive vs. reactive.

Candidate Attributes

  • Recent experience as a finance leader for a high-growth consumer business at scale, ideally with a direct-to-consumer, ecommerce, subscription, and/or manufacturing component.
  • Deep experience working in hyper-growth environments with exposure to product profitability, pricing models, and forecasting.
  • Business and operationally-oriented with a strong FP&A skill set. Ideally, early experience in management consulting, private equity investing, investment banking or similar experience.
  • Highly analytical. Ability to quantitatively frame strategic initiatives and financially operationalize activities of the company. 
  • Specific expertise in developing strategic alternatives with cross functional implications and financial impact.
  • Exceptional influencing skills and experience working cross functionally (across many areas and levels of an organization) and with the Board of Directors.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and proven experience in cultivating collaborative working relationships with teams across an organization. Actively drives strong teamwork and collaboration with an enterprise-wide perspective.
  • Experience building and managing teams through an organization’s growth.
  • Ability to balance proactive/planning with reactive elements of the position.
  • Public company experience preferred but not required.
